A Call to Listen
Before the city powers back up, bells move through the quiet—church chimes calling us to reflect, school bells launching the first lesson of hope, firehouse sirens sending their steady cry of solidarity into the dark. These aren’t just sounds—they’re signals. Invitations to pause, to notice, to hear the everyday poetry in every life. The Bells I Hear is rooted in one belief: even the quietest voice can shift the world.
A Symphony of Voices
One evening in 2025, beneath the glow of amber lights, our team dared to imagine a podcast as a constellation of stories—each episode a star guiding us toward collective hope. We asked ourselves: How do we turn stories of struggle into beacons of possibility? In that hush, we sketched five episodes—each spotlighting a different dimension of homelessness, resilience, and renewal.
Naming the Echo
We chose The Bells I Hear as our mantra: bells that summon us to bear witness, honor our shared humanity, and remember that within every struggle lies the promise of renewal. Press play and join our chorus—your listening heart amplifies each story’s resonance across generations.
Crafting Season One
Traveling New York’s tapestry, we recorded conversations with leaders turning compassion into action:
Christine C. Quinn of Women In Need, restoring dignity through shelter and social services.
Nick E. Smith of Communities Resist, empowering tenants to halt displacement through legal advocacy.
Jeremy C. Kohomban, PhD, at Children’s Village, embedding family support to give every child a loving home.
Gary P. Jenkins of Urban Pathways, whose journey from welfare recipient to commissioner fuels his work delivering tailored housing and support.
The Moment of Unveiling
On April 9, 2025, we rang our first bell: “What Is the Real Face of Homelessness?” Empathy surged as listeners shared, reflected, and responded; across Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube, and all major platforms—an open gateway to stories that matter.
